How can I access the September 12 Virtual Kickoff? Do I need a ticket? What will the Virtual Kickoff include?
We’ll send out the link for the September 12 Virtual Kickoff to our email list in advance of the livestream. Not on our list, or not sure? Click HERE to send us your address!
The Virtual Kickoff will be a FREE live streamed event at 7:00pm on Saturday, September 12. It will feature video from some of our greatest hits (remember seeing live theatre?), greetings from our Ensemble, and a guided tour of our silent auction and Pie-in-the-Face contest.
Where and when can I see the silent auction items?
Starting with our Virtual Kickoff at 7:00pm on September 12, our
Howdy from Home site will be open for 7 days. We’ll preview some items in advance on social media – so follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We’ll also share the link with our email list and on social media. You won’t be able to miss it!
Are you doing a raffle this year? Where can I buy tickets? What does 50/50 Split the Pot Raffle mean?
For sure! Raffle tickets are available HERE. They’re $20 each or 3 for $50. We’ll announce the total and draw the winner at the September 19th Wrap Party. This is a 50/50 Split the Pot Raffle, which means that the winner will receive ½ of the total amount of raffle tickets sold. The other half will support our groundbreaking artists.
Do I need to buy a ticket to view the September 19 Wrap Party?

I know theatres, including Rivendell, aren’t producing right now.
Why is the company raising money?
Thank you for asking. Maybe we make it look easy, but a lot of work happens before the lights come up on a performance before an audience. We work year round building relationships with artists, finding and developing new plays, making casting and design decisions, and much more. On top of that, we maintain our theatre and rehearsal spaces, seek grants and donations, participate in professional activities ranging from grant review panels to mentoring interns. ALL of that continues while our theatre is dark.
In addition, we anticipate additional costs in the year ahead, so fundraising right now is important. We will need video expertise and equipment if we decide to offer virtual programming in the coming year. When we can reopen the theatre, we expect additional expenses for cleaning and safety, as well as possibly smaller audiences to allow for social distancing.
As a nonprofit storefront theatre, we have always relied on donors for the bulk of the funds needed to pursue our mission of advancing the lives of women through theatre. Now is no different. Thank you for giving if you can!
Why is Rivendell throwing a party right now – with everything that’s going on?
We’re raising money right now because our mission is critical. We were founded to increase employment opportunities for women artists – and we use the word “women” to encompass all people to whom it applies. In the past few years, we began internal changes guided by our work to increase Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Rivendell. The current social justice movement has compelled us to accelerate these efforts.
We’re hosting a virtual party to raise this money because we know that hard work, deep thought, and coming together in celebration and support of a vital mission is possible, all at the same time. The funds we raise through Howdy from Home will help us weather this crisis, make the changes and undergo the growth that will make us better, and enable us to safely return to our life’s work – advancing the lives of women through theatre – as soon as possible.
When will Rivendell begin producing shows again?
As soon as we know, we’ll announce it. We are being guided by directives from public health experts and concern for the safety of our artists and audiences. At this time, we have not announced when our next performance in our theatre will be.
